Where students become teachers.

LRT creates matches between volunteer student mentors and students who need support.

Why Living Room Tutors?

Communities across the nation have been experiencing school shutdowns due to COVID-19. Studies of student absences, summer learning loss, and prolonged school closures suggest that losing time in school sets students back academically. Living Room Tutors is here to alleviate some of those negative ramifications of being away from the classroom.

Living Room Tutors is supporting communities in their efforts to mitigate the impact of school closures by facilitating the connections between volunteer student mentors and students who need support. We are a free web-based service that offers resources for students, families, and educators to improve the learning experience of K-12 Students. We seek to help students who have had their education suddenly interrupted and keep their academic achievement trajectories strong.

Living Room Tutors operates solely because of the hard work of our wonderful student volunteers. They take the time to review each response in order to make the most fitting match between tutors and tutees.

Tutoring session via video conferencing platform

After the connection is made, it is up to the tutor and tutee to set up their tutoring session based both party’s availability. There are several video conferencing platforms that you can utilize, including Zoom and Google Meet.
